The EWI hit the ground running in 2023 with its partnership with The Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and NorthWest Indiana. Centered around Youth leadership and preparing the participants for career positions within the Girl Scouts Organization, the training brought together a panel of industry professionals, youth specialists, teachers, and future youth facilitators of all ages for passionate discussion around creating safe, enriched environments for youth to thrive in. The Englewood Quality of Life Initiative Celebrates 7 years and a return to form after the 2020 pandemic.
Teamwork surely capitalized on the Lunar New Year for the opportunity to say Happy New Year deep into the month of January. Gathering for the first time since the 2020 pandemic, the Englewood Quality of Life Initiative held a taskforce wide meeting to express gratitude for the success of years past and revel in an unwavering fervor for a brighter future for the Englewood community. The centerpiece of the event was the timeline gallery walk, which allowed community residents and stakeholders to time travel back to the 2016 inception of the EQLP and either learn something new about the history of each taskforce, or relive their own involvement in EQLP/ EQLI history. Teamwork Englewood celebrates momentous year with the hosting of its First Englewood Peace Jam.
Last December, Teamwork Englewood’s Youth Basketball program celebrated a momentous year with the hosting of its First Englewood Peace Jam at William Harper High School. Taking place on the unusually warm, but always lazy days between Christmas and New Years, the Jam brought out youth, community members, and basketball enthusiasts from all over the city for an all out tournament. Comprised of 3 matches, and 2 contests, the jam pit youth against youth, high school vs college and local professionals vs other local pros. For everything from versus match up to a 3 point shootout. While Teamwork is no stranger to basketball programming, this event is no doubt the result of exciting forward thinking among leadership. Surely greater things are to follow in 2023!
